MeetMoi is mobile dating system. Meet Moi opens up uncharted territory for you when it comes to the dating game. Register yourself online and the next time you’re feeling lonely. All you have to do is text a message about your location from your cell phone to MeetMoi, and instantly receive profiles of singles near you.

First Impressions

First an interesting note. During my grad school studies in 2004, we had to create a new product or service for a class projects. I suggested to my team that we create a mobile version of a dating service. The idea would be that you could sms in your location (bar, pub, pizza joint, school, etc.) and find others at or near that location that want to meet. I was outvoted on ideas and we wound up creating a new fridge for the German consumer market. Well, I am glad to see someone had the same idea and ran with it! With everyone using mobile today, I (still) think this idea has tremendous potential.

The basic idea is that you can tell MeetMoi where you are and what you are looking for and it tells you if there is a match. GPS a date!

I must admit, they ask for a lot of information to signup. They require you to confirm your mobile number which is good for protection against spammers.

Service Usability

After you register and confirm your mobile, becoming "available" on the MeetMoi network is easy. You send an email/sms message with your current location to MeetMoi and then the system will consider you available for two hours.  Then profiles that match your location and needs will appear as text messages on your device. To "talk" to one of the profiles, just reply to the message. All of the profiles that are sent to you are also stored on your MeetMoi profile page in case you need to review.

What would I like to see added to MeetMoi

• Less information required on the registration form
• Number of subscribers listed on the home page

Final comments

Have 10 minutes to kill at Borders, why not see if there is a match in the next aisle? At the library doing research, maybe the woman sitting next to you is also on MeetMoi and a love connection is just a sms message away.

I believed this was a great idea three years ago and I still believe it is a great idea. I look forward to seeing the final version of MeetMoi and will update the review at that time. I am sure we will see these guys around the scene for a long time to come.
