NYC Tech Meetups w/o Dec. 16: Web2NY and MashMeet/Social Networking

On the calendar this week are the Web2NewYork (New York Web Entrepreneurs) on Tuesday and the Mashable MashMeet meetup also on Tuesday. The MashMeet is also combining with New York Web 2.0 Social Networking Tech Meetup and the NYC Entrepreneur / Small Business Networking. I am guessing there will be a huge turnout for the MashMeet as the other meetups have a large majority of heavy drinkers and now the drinks will be free.
Goodness we need some new, better names for these meetups, dont'cha think?!?
As for the MashMeet - don't be afraid to wear CN colors or show your CN pride. I will be there wearing my CN pin and will have some giveaways for other loyal CN readers. We will be entering the enemy camp so watch out for any potential shenanigans. Use Twitter to warn others when needed. I will hand out a code sheet at the event.

Web2NewYork (at Gallery Bar) has six companies presenting: MediaMath, MyHound, ideAjax/SaneBull, OpenAd.net, Unype and MyItThings.
No problem Peter - wish I could attend both on Tuesday but I have to go give the Mashable team grief :) Good luck on Tuesday!
Why has Web2NewYork recently been on days where there are other meetups essentially competing against the same audience?
Peter tends to get a great group of presenters, but the other meetups (whether its this month's MashMeet, Brooklyn 2.0, or other meetups) are usually more centrally located than Gallery Bar.
Is there a vendetta against Web2NewYork or has Peter just had bad luck the past month when scheduling his parties?
I think this month the web2 social networking was moved to tuesday so as to add to the mashmeet - normally i believe one is monday, one is tuesday.
I like Peter but I do agree it's a pain in the rear to get there. Other than that I don't know all the history but I think initially Peter and the other meetup were one and they had a fight or something? That was what I heard but no idea.
I wish the meetups would come up with better, easier, shorter names.
I hadn't seen this discussion before.
I always organize my Web2NewYork networking parties on the second or third Tuesday of the month, whatever's closest to the 15th.
There are several meetups I try to avoid clashing with; the NY Tech Meetup, the Video 2.0 Meetup and a few others.
I've now started planning my meetups several months in advance, but it's impossible to avoid scheduling clashes.
