Ok. So what's up with Flash? Are people developing it because it's open source or is it because it's developed by Google?

I don't know what does it have to be open source for technology to be great. I have developed for both flash and silverlight and silverlight so much flexible with great tools support. Just love it!

"- as opposed to having exactly ZERO developers working on Microsoft Silverlight."
Have you heard about "Netflix" , or probably this little thing called the "Olympics coverage" ? You should do a bing search on those names .

I don't think that technology wise you can compare applications based on installing browser plugins to a huge new phase of the internet evolevement through HTML 5.0. Google is changing the face of the email today and is building its product on a new technology while microsoft created a technology without building anything with value over it! two different things here!

You seriously need to stay off the drugs.

Open Source is a good thing, but everything doesn't have to be open source.

Do you realize that your computer(most likely intel), isn't open source. All of the integrated circuits are built like code. Why run your apps on this non-open platform?

Grow up!

Just any fyi, WPF is coming out of the box with Windows 7 and there is an army of windows developers out there. WPF and Silverlight are virtually identical so the transition will be near seamless for them. Microsoft still has a monster footprint in the enterprise and one should never rule them out of the game regardless of Google or "karma". Competition is good, oh and for better or worse the OS still matters.
