Motion Graphics Designer
Reports to: Executive Creative Director, User Experience and Branding

Customer Experience Design (CXD)
This is a contract position.
Job Summary:
The CNET “Redball” Customer Experience Design practice members specialize in supporting the company offline marketing and online web-based initiatives for CNET and CBS News. Practice members are responsible for cultivating and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture. An essential component of the CXD team is the Visual Design practice. Visual Design is responsible for owning & maintaining all brand guidelines, the mark, color palette and visual styles used on web properties.
As a Motion Graphics Designer, you will assist in ensuring the consistency of CNET’s branded online, motion graphics and broadcast presence. Working with the User Experience team members and other cross-functional team members, you will create compelling, industry-leading multi-media solutions for various assigned broadband and related web projects. These initiatives will support customer experience objectives, and you will assist at various degrees through the production and implementation of designs.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with CNET broadcast team (CNET TV), UX team members and other cross-functional teams to translate stated strategic and customer experience objectives into new multi-media experiences and/or effective design solutions.
* Creation of visual design for assigned web projects including: visual interface design systems and elements, new page design layouts, typography, photography/imagery, buttons, promotions, rich-media (Flash), design templates and other graphical needs. The ability to design within a corporate branding framework is required.
* Design CNET TV show identities and all relevant online collateral.
* Assist and contribute to the development, evolution, update and implementation of design parameters, style guide documentation and visual standards.
* Develop presentations and demo’s for prospective clients and projects as requested by sales and marketing teams.
* Effectively present design ideas and recommendations to various cross-functional team members.
* Collaborate with various cross-departmental and 3rd party vendors to ensure consistency of visual standards and style guidelines to sustain the integrity of our Brand.
* Stay up-to-date on industry standards (e.g. IAB ad unit standards) and best practices.
* Provide creative direction to production artists and motion designers as necessary.
* Assist in the production management and/or archive of graphical production art, source files, template files and other related graphical assets.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or other closely related disciplines.
* 4-5+ years of professional motion graphic, broadcast and / or web design experience. Preference in an agency, marketing or in-house creative services environment with a proven track record for creating branded experiences across a variety of media.
* Strong visual design, layout and typographic skills with a sharp attention to detail; portfolio and reel review required.
* Previous experience in storyboarding and or creative direction for compelling motion graphics in the field of television/broadcast production or interactive web experiences.
* Proven experience creating industry standard broadcast graphics such as show opens, background slates, watermarks, lower thirds, etc.
* Production skills including graphic optimization and asset management.
* Demonstrated ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams that include project managers, designers, writers, information architects, business leaders, production artists and technical engineers.
* Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills.
* Strong oral and written communication skills for effective communication to User Experience practice members, cross-functional team members and outside vendors and consultants.
* Organizational, analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills.
* Deadline-oriented with the ability to work independently, prioritize workload and accomplish multiple projects within tight timelines.
Proficient In:
* After Effects/Illustrator/Photoshop/Flash require
* 3D Development/Animation using Maya or Cinema 4D
* Video editing with Final Cut or Apple Motion
Nice to have:
* Knowledge of ActionScript, Expressions or MEL Scripting
* InDesign
