MTV Launches Digital Fusion To Pimp Their Networks
MTV, part of Viacom (VIA), is announcing a new unit within their digital advertising group. Named "Digital Fusion", the goal is to pimp their internal sites to advertisers and create new ad formats and push the envelope using their own brands.
From the announcement, "Operating within MTVN’s Digital Advertising group, Digital Fusion will leverage the company’s targeted websites, mobile properties and digital creative teams to more deeply connect advertisers with consumers." I like when companies say they want to "more deeply connect advertisers with consumers", makes me feel all warm and fuzzy – perhaps they should try Beacon! One might wonder, if they are just doing this now, what in the F have they been doing with the ad dollars given to them from their advertisers?
The real question is whether the ads will work in the Real World or in Second Life? Will it be a Shot at Advertising Love or just another Date My Advertiser?
Will advertisers be running for The Hills or holding blingalicious Sweet 16 parties for all the new revenue? Will we be saying Yo MTV Ads!? Will advertisers be seeing growth or will they just say NEXT?
Digital Fusion will work across all of the MTV Networks – MTV: MUSIC TELEVISION, MTV2, VH1, mtvU, NICKELODEON, NICK at NITE, COMEDY CENTRAL, TV LAND, SPIKE TV, CMT, NOGGIN/THE N, VH1 CLASSIC, MTVN INTERNATIONAL and THE DIGITAL SUITE FROM MTV NETWORKS
This was my attempt to cover the announcement using some of the current MTV shows.
