The purpose of the committee is to help bridge the digital divide, not allow middle and upper class yuppies the ability to access wifi while sipping latte in the park. To that end, the problem it appears is more basic than wifi. Poor folks don't have computers. It looks like the committee is going to be focused on improving land line access, computer ownership, and training, because many people, particularly poor and 50+ dont feel like they have the skills to handle a computer or use the internet usefully. I was at the event, and I must say everything that was said made sense to me.
