My video take on the YouTube video ads test
Last week, Liz from NewTeeVee posted some screenshots of an apparent inline video ads test on YouTube. I think the ads look great and while Duncan thought they were not contextual, I think that as a test, they are awesome. Pre-roll sucks (I just leave the page for 30 secs or whatever) and post-roll sucks as no one stays to watch the ad. The inline advert is where it's at.
I certainly hope that YouTube puts the ads into the embed because that is really where they belong. On the YouTube web site, they can monetize outside the video, but on the embed, it's their only chance/choice. And I for one, think it's ok.
Look at Digg (just one example). Digg'ers watch thousands of videos from YouTube a day within the Digg environment. The Digg'ers watch, comment on Digg and then move on to the next video. Why shouldn't YouTube be able to capitalize on this somehow? Remember YouTube is a business who has to answer to shareholders. They (like all businesses) must generate revenue and profit to survive.
Anyway, have a look at my thoughts on the video below. I do swear a couple of times.

Very valid points, Allen. Great how you showed them in video too - do more vids!
