MyBlogLog about to rebrand/redesign... does anyone use this widget anymore?
David Dalka has a recap of a presentation by Yahoo's MyBLogLog Community Manager Robyn Tippins at an event in Chicago on Friday. The biggest news that David notes includes: MyBlogLog relaunch and redesign, 2.0 upgrade?, and a way to turn off "presence". Frankly, I have never loved the widget from the beginning as my browsing is my own, thank you.
Mike notes, "A redesign will be good. What will be even better is a commitment to 100% uptime. As a widget company it is not acceptable to slow down or take down partner sites. MyBlogLog’s first priority must be performance."
What I am wondering is if anyone even really uses this widget anymore? I know that my spam emails from MyBlogLog "friends" has all but stopped. It seems that since the ShoeMoney fiasco in February, I just don't see it as much anymore. (and I know they provide some stat services but the widget was what made them grow exponentially)
Here is a suggestion for MyBlogLog/Yahoo - let users select what they show and tie it into the other Yahoo services such as Flickr/Geocities/etc. So when I click on a user, I can see their Yahoo items that they decide to share with the public. This would be a lot more beneficial to my site users and would also tie back into your other core services.
Update: Duncan Riley has a similar post to mine with his titled, "Too Little, Too Late."

A lot of blogs I read still use the widget. Personally, I just have the JS in my site's code but it's invisible.
