Myrecipe.org Review
Overview from Myrecipe.org
Myrecipe offers the following overview on their web site (http://myrecipe.org/):
MyRecipe.org is a cooking community website. Do you have a great recipe? Share your favorite food recipes with the community.
First Impressions
Pretty easy to understand concept: You can post recipes, share recipes, and search for recipes based on tags.
Signup
Creating an account is easy. See my notes below for a couple of issues that should be addressed.
Service Usability
Setting up a recipe is relatively easy. From a usability standpoint, it would help if they would add a "1-2-3" steps model above the form. The layout is very easy and printing a recipe worked well. Really like the pictures, so far they are very good quality. The site is very basic, which I categorize as a positive as opposed to trying to dig through the countless ads and so forth on a site like allrecipes.com. And from my perspective this site has more "social" potential than many of the other cooking sites.
What would I like to see added to Myrecipe
- Copy reviewed for grammar, spelling, etc.
- Fix the birthday drop down so that I can be older than 50 :)
- Fix the error messages like this one "Login dah ada orang pakai nama ni"
- Maybe create a tag list based on the ingredients so I can pick what I have and try to make something from that
- Shopping list of ingredients for selected recipe
- Later on — Rating for recipes in addition to comments
Final comments
For Myrecipe to be successful, they will need to focus on the first three items on my list above. After that, the key to succecss for Myrecipe will be the freshness (LOL) of the recipes and comments posted.
I will be checking out this site before I head to the grocery store. Maybe I can finally get away from eating burgers or spaghetti every night?!?!?
