TMZ Moves Celeb Gossip Into MySpaceTV
MySpace has signed entertainment and celebrity gossip site TMZ and their videos to a distribution deal on MySpaceTV. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TMZ is part of the AOL network of sites and TMZ’s nightly TV show appears on FOX-owned stations so to some extent this is an extension of their TV deal.
From the announcement, ‘"TMZ" will populate a branded channel on MySpaceTV, providing MySpace with a window to feature select exclusive clips after they have already aired on the "TMZ" television program. "TMZ" will also provide a variety of non-exclusive clips (up to 15) on a weekly basis, featuring irreverent celebrity stories in "TMZ’s" unique voice.’
Earlier this month, MySpaceTV partnered with Next New Networks to add 10 new channels to the MySpaceTV lineup.
The most exciting part of this deal is that now if you are on MySpace you can stay within the site to see whether Britney is wearing underwear or whatever celebrity is speaking about Scientology! Maybe Perez Hilton goes to Facebook?

That is great news for the both of them. TMZ has soared in popularity since its inception and since they now have a television show on Fox, they’ve gained even more visibility. Interesting to see yet another “merger” of sorts!
