Nexidia To Power MSNBC Video Search

Allen Stern - January 19th, 2009

nexidiaAtlanta-based Nexidia has announced a new partnership with MSNBC today. The partnership will bring the Nexidia online video search technology to the MSNBC video site. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

It looks like Nexidia will integrate into the MSNBC video site providing search and the ability to search via tagging. The idea is to promote discovery and keep users within the MSNBC site longer by displaying videos meeting a user’s criteria. The more that MSNBC can match videos to a user’s needs, the more monetization it can grab from that user.

Nexidia appears to be a competitor to a couple of other video search providers we’ve covered: Pixsy and Blinkx.

  1. TechLang says:

Truveo is still the best video search engine.

  2. MenloPark says:

Nexidia is not like Pixsy or Truveo in that it extends beyond metadata to search within the actual video. Did you look at the MSNBC Inaugural player? Nexidia is not like Blinkx in that Nexidia can be operated by the content owner. Blinkx requires that it be SaaS.
