Notches Launches Reviews Toolbar – Add Product Reviews to Any Site

notchesNY-based Notches has announced the launch of the Notches Toolbar. Notches is a networking platform for reviews. The concept behind the toolbar is to offer product Web sites a way to integrate reviews from Notches directly into their Web sites. I spoke with CTO Tim Marman who explained that the toolbar has two main components. First for Web sites that partner with Notches, they will get review buttons added to product pages instantly. Second, the toolbar offers a way for users to review basically any product from any Web site. Assuming they can get users to install the toolbar, this could significantly increase the size of the Notches reviews database.

The first partners are ProductWiki and BeerMenus. Marman tells me there are plans to work with eBay and Craigslist. The toolbar also has a button to notify Notches when you visit a site that needs reviews. This feature will let Notches users do the pre-sales research – a smart idea indeed!

Check out my interview with the Notches founders Corey Henderson and Tim Marman.

very cool – maybe this concept of an open source reviews site that everyone can tie into might work – but of course at the end of the day, notches still owns it all

Congrats Tim, Corey and team. I’m just heading over to install the toolbar… sounds like a slick way to populate the db of reviews.

Mr Stern, I’ll return and review this page. And will also notify the notches team that this site needs the review plugin on the pages :D
