Oracle has been trying to acquire MySql for years. It looks like they succeeded this time. http://ploneglenn.blogspot.com/2009/04/oracle-to-acquire-sun.html I can't help but think that they will poison, throttle, or sunset MySql in hopes of driving a lot of that market over to Oracle. Wise for Oracle but most probably pain for MySql users. Oracle has been trying to acquire MySql for years. It looks like they succeeded this time.
