Pantone Releases Fall Fashion Colors; Will Startups Get Fashionable?
by Allen Stern on February 13th, 2009
The color authority Pantone has released their Fashion Color Report 2009. Today starts Fashion Week in NYC and the report highlights the colors that designers will most likely push in their fashions that hit the runway. It’s worth checking out the report just to get some color inspiration. The report was put together after speaking with the top NYC fashion designers.
You might be wondering why I decided to post about this – why do we care about what colors people wear? Perhaps these are colors we should look to for our website and startup designs for this year. So the next time you sit down with your designer or open Photoshop yourself, maybe you should take a look at Nomad, Rapture Rose or using a bit of Iron in your next design.

As someone who has been designing web sites for years now I can say that we are always looking for a bit of inspiration from other sources. So, that being said, I can pretty much guarantee that there will be sites that start popping up featuring the “hot” new colors.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but when you have too many people trying to do what’s new, hot and trendy then you get overkill and it becomes cliche very quickly.
Fashion mixed with Tech- sounds reasonable to me. The only issue I can see happening with this senerio is the once the trend is gone and you have your companies/website colors are you going to change them for the new trend. That creates inconsistencies in the branding and can damage a companies. I would saw beware of too much trendiness.
