Contrary to popular opinion, making everything after the / (or perhaps everything after the last / present) shouldn't always be the nickname. After you've logged into Pibb, you can set your nickname (and avatar!) anyways. So it's really not a big problem. But, as my subject says. IdP's supporting simple registration, and asking for sreg.nickname on OpenID login is the way to go. Then Pibb would have something to immediately work off of.
