Pluggd Hires Chief Marketing Officer
Written by centernetworks - December 8, 2006
After receiving funding earlier this week, Pluggd, a "perfect" video and audio search today announced they have hired a CMO, Chief Marketing Officer. Cornelius Willis, a technology executive with extensive experience in digital media and platform marketing, has been brought in to lead the company's business development, marketing and advertising sales efforts.
Said CEO Alex Castro, "We've got very ambitious plans for Pluggd, and Cornelius' experience launching companies and developing ecosystems is really going to accelerate our growth."
Cornelius' work in digital media began at Microsoft as a technical evangelist and product manager, launching the Multimedia PC consumer platform. His career at Microsoft spanned 10 years, including serving as product manager for the popular Visual Basic programming system and serving as Microsoft's first director of platform marketing. Cornelius left Microsoft to build the content commerce start-up Qpass (recently acquired by Amdocs), where he drove partnerships with Dow Jones/Factiva, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times as the company's vice president of sales and marketing. More recently, he was vice president of developer marketing for BEA Systems, and co-founder and vice president of marketing for SourceLabs, creator of the wildly successful SWiK.net open source community.
