Pownce - it’s pretty freakin’ sweet!

Update: Of course, I try to contact the team to get ya’all some invites using their contact email address, and it’s broken. :)

Rafe at Webware has a good indepth review as well.

PownceOk, I must admit. I wanted to hate this app. So many commenters on TechCrunch and Mashable say this is a worthless app. While I may still hate it after using it more, I just played with it for 10 minutes and it's pretty freaking sweet. It's what I have said all along Twitter should have been; that is a business productivity tool.

Pownce combines the best of Twitter, divshare and Renkoo into one slick app. While it's not the meat level of each app individually, if I can get my friends to use this, Twitter would be worthless to me.

I don't see any mobile access so Twitter wins there, but Pownce has a better interface, and has THREADED discussions. Gosh how I hate that about Twitter. The @ crap is tired.

It looks like the basic account is free and a pro account is $20/yr. I woudn't jump to the pro until we see some stability first. The free account will be advertising based at some point.

Here is my video review:

Thanks to Ryan for the invite!

  3. This was the first video review that I’ve seen of the service. Thank you for that!

It looks pretty interesting. I look forward to trying it.

Sadly I came up with this exact same idea a few months back. Of course, that doesn’t mean anything really, but it’s weird to see it being done.

If you have an invite, I would love one… poliver1@babson.edu

    Great video review/walk through Allen.

If you have an invite, I would like one please.
    Thanks

  12. I really think that this application would rock if released to the GPL. If they wanted to crush the other companies that are offering those applications….

  13. Some great reviews have been coming from people who actually get on and try pownce. I could be providing design for pownce soon instead of myspace.
