Product Group Manager, Video

We are seeking a Product Group Manager of Video who is motivated by creating great products and services. With a passion for media and entertainment, the role of Product Group Manager, Video is your opportunity to define the next generation of Web/Internet based Video & TV service that are delivered across over 20M U.S. households. This position will put you at the nexus of content delivery convergence. This highly visible role within the industry is 50% business-product strategy and 50% technical project management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee a team of highly skilled designers and programmers to define the next generation Video offering across Synacor’s client base
• Execute the launch of new services, interfacing with cross functional teams assigned to the video group
• Coordinate and communicate with business, technical and operations groups to understand objectives and limitations of each group and incorporate feedback into thorough, well-written product requirements document (PRD) that will deliver advanced capabilities across multiple, consumer branded websites
• Responsible for developing and managing video partner definitions and integrations, including our clients to incorporate their requirements in to our video product roadmap
• Provide technical oversight and serve as a liaison between deployment and engineering teams to facilitate technical issue escalation and prioritization of engineering resources
• Provide good judgment in key issue identification and resolution spanning multiple departments throughout the customer deployment lifecycle
• Manage development documentation and create baseline requirements for marketing and training materials for support of release, marketing and sales efforts
• Proactively identify process improvements and work to achieve consensus and drive implementation
• Observe and track customer viewing trends
• Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in CIS or Business Administration
• An MBA or secondary degree preferred
• At least four years of product management experience in the Internet industry with a rolodex of industry contacts
• Solid understanding of emerging video trends
• Specific experience working in the online video space, ideally at a Web portal company
• Knowledge of web video formats, products, coding and editing
• Experience building and delivering products at a web video, e-commerce or Internet company
• Ability to effectively multi-task and manage a team
• Creative problem solving abilities and an innovative development approach
• Good judgment in key issue identification and resolution spanning multiple departments throughout the customer deployment lifecycle
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Understanding of the product lifecycle from inception through delivery and post-delivery support
