Product Manager - Social Web Applications

Signal Patterns is developing social web applications that characterize and connect users to each other based on their interests, personality and preferences. With these applications, users can discover more about themselves as well as make connections to like-minded individuals, while content sites and social networks can increase their own user engagement. Signal Patterns’ patent-pending technology results from a unique combination of in-house behavioral science research and data mining expertise. Founded in 2006, Signal Patterns is self-financed and based in Pleasantville, NY.

The Product Manger is a key position (newly created) to help the company build a variety of highly engaging social web applications based on its behavioral science expertise, across numerous online products and channels.

We build people profiling and discovery applications that enable users to learn more about themselves, connect with friends and discover new content and services. We have launched several applications on various social networks and are looking to increase our product releases. We are looking for people with unique skills and a desire to join a fast-growing startup in an exciting area.

Job Description

Work closely with our Development team, CTO and Marketing VP in establishing the Signal Patterns product management function. You’ll be responsible for identifying new product opportunities, defining specifications and working with Development to ensure timely delivery.

Location: Pleasantville, NY (Westchester, steps from Metro-North)
Reports to: VP, Marketing

Responsibilities

  • Identify compelling product opportunities based on market drivers, partnering opportunities and customer input
  • Drive product requirement planning, features specification, visual design and usability to support development efforts and improve user experience
  • Help play a leading role in product strategy, roadmap planning and marketing initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze web analytics and user feedback, and make recommendations to improve product engagement
  • Work closely with our Development team, CTO and Marketing VP to ensure that product releases are on schedule
  • Work closely with company partners to define, specify and develop applications for third party sites
  • Define new research-based applications in conjunction with in-house Science team
  • Assist in providing consumer-centric view to product development efforts

Ideal Candidate’s Skills

  • 3 - 5 years experience in web product management, ideally related to specifying and rolling out complex, dynamic, consumer-facing websites and online products / applications
  • Proven success in defining product requirements and rolling out innovative web applications
  • Deep understanding of (and lives) social networking and social networks, and web 2.0 technologies (Facebook platform, OpenSocial, etc.)
  • Web development familiarity
  • Knowledge of online advertising, web analytics and conversion metrics (CPM, CTR, CPC, CPL, CPA) a plus.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently, juggle multiple projects with varying deadlines, rapidly take-on new responsibilities and wear many hats in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree a plus
