I did NOT call you a moron for thinking they might be able to do something innovative. I just think you were perhaps a bit too optimistic in thinking that the brass at AOL (not Tom D., or even Tom’s boss) had not already made up their minds about not wanting to spend much money on this. That decision had obviously been made.

On its current course, the journey from not spending *much* money on it to not spending *any* money on it should be a short one.

I am one of the user that are very disappointed with the move.
My question is, why change?

Netscape has a Pagerank of 9, and dozens of PR8,PR7,PR6 subpages/tags. Thats what beats Digg hands down.
Netscape has been so effective in the SERPS, anything you submit will appear in Google, faster than anything else.

I wonder how propeller will regain its PR?
The original Netscape is being redirected to netscape.aol.com
That does not pass any juice to any sites.

In short, what a waste. =(

I read your comment over at read-write web and came over here.

AOL sure has jerked their users around.

you should give mixx.com a try. They launched 4 days ago an I just got an invite into their private beta. Its sweet and is everything that Netscape shoudl have been.

i think its just a matter of time before AOL shuts netscape/propeller down for good.

Sometimes things like this are out of our control. Please don’t think for a minute that we didn’t fight the good fight for the Netscape community. We’re not blind, we know that would have been a much better option, it just wasn’t available.

But I do understand your position, I share it.
