QReateBUZZ Offers a Free QR Code Generator and Analysis Tool
If you read CN regularly, you know I like the QR Code concept. QR codes are 2D barcodes that can contain a lot of information and instructions so when you scan the code, it does something (most times it takes you to a website).
QReateBUZZ is a new service that helps you create QR codes for use on business cards, promotions, etc. They provide QR code creation tools plus the ability to manage multiple codes and an analytics tool (sample image below). The strength of the QReateBUZZ system is in the management and analytics – something many other QR code services don’t offer.
The interesting thing about QReateBUZZ is that it’s like using a hosted website (i.e. moo.hostedwebsite.com) — if that hosted website disappears, so does your site — same thing here. And this isn’t unique to QReateBUZZ, the issue would be present with any hosted company.
The service is free to use although I’d like a hosted model for a small fee. This hosted model would basically remedy the issue noted above. Here’s a sample screenshot from their analytics tool:

Hi Allen,
As I’ve stated before, but I’ll state again for the newbies the big issue with QR codes like this is they are redirected fromQReateBuzz’s website – if they go out of business then all the tags you deployed are dead as well.
It makes far more sense to deploy codes that resolve directly to your content and you run your own analytics against this.
Use a ‘real’ qr code generator that doesn’t use link redirection and do it right the first time or you might find these free services cost you more than ‘free’ in the long run.
Having said this, I cant highly reccomend the QR concept enough – if you are trying to explain it to someone who doesnt “get it” explain it to them this way:
…….“Think of QR codes as a right mouse button to anything physical. Anything you want ‘more information about’ just click.
So every movie poster, every advertisement shown on tv, every compact disc label in a retail store should have a qr code on it.”……

Philip Warbasse of Warbasse Design recommends using Googles Chart API to generate QR Codes. He suggests this link by Dean Collins to learn more: http://deancollinsblog.blogspot.com/2008/05/google-chart-api-now-generates-qr-codes.html
His design firm in Los Angeles found online at http://www.warbassedesign.com has been creating campaigns for 2 years and I have posted videos below:

Philip wants to encourage anyone who uses QR codes to use them wisely by considering the user experience on one’s phone as a part of the overall strategy. For example a QR code that points to a YouTube page will only work on a small subset of phones. Keep up the good work.

I been using http://www.beqrious.com/ to generate my QR codes, its been great they even have a function where you can upload a logo to the center or the QR code.
you might want to check my post at http://www.cognation.net/qr/designqr why most logos in the center are a bad idea and what you can do about it.
i’d really like confirmation if bequious are doing the precalculation on their uploads as well.
Cheers,
Dean
Hey Dean, not sure but I have talked to them many times in email! Nice guys and they are from N.Y to ;) I can email them and ask them. I made QR codes there with my logo on the code and have not had a problem yet. This site is doing a QR code tracking system to that should be up and going in a few weeks!
Hi every one,
Thanks for the comments about QReateBUZZ. For your reference we are offering a hosted model. This is in private beta right now. Just send us an email if you’d like to be included.
Thanks, Julia
