Overview from Reevoo

Reevoo offers the following overview on their web site (http://www.reevoo.com):

Reevoo is where you'll find people like you talking about things you’re thinking of buying. Read and share thousands of real-world reviews, and buy from our selected partners.

First Impressions

There are many review sites online. Most allow anyone to review anything. There is no "confirmation" of who you are or if you own the product or service you are reviewing. Reevoo changes the game by confirming reviews and this eliminates the chance that someone can negatively influence the overall reviews. It also avoids the company spamming the reviews with positive comments.

Signup

It took me a while to realize that you cannot signup and post. You are only allowed to create a review after purchasing an item from a merchant which supports Reevoo reviews.

Service Usability

I really like the tag system on the reviews. This is a perfect implementation of a tag. You can filter reviews by tag. The initial page for a product should show all reviews and manufacturer description. I believe I encountered a bug when checking out this Bosch Fridge. The manufacturer description seems to be cutoff. I am sure they can fix it up :). I am not sure I see a huge benefit to the "water cooler" chat function as in the two hours dedicated on the site, there was only one comment posted.

There is a buy now link that takes you to shopping.com, for some reason on the Bosch two links appeared. Again looks like a quick fix.

It appears that you can post a review to your own blog then let Reevoo know about it. This seems a little bit odd. What happens if I do not have a blog to post to? Your post still will be confirmed which is a good thing.

Reevoo has over 20,000 confirmed reviews which is awesome. Seems most of the reviews focus around electronics and appliances (small/large). Both categories are typically major purchases and having a site that you know offers confirmed reviews (not spam!) is another benefit of using Reevoo for your pre-purchase research.

What would I like to see added to Reevoo

  • A note added to the home page about the fact that they are UK only (hopefully for now only)
  • Merchant pricing - offer me the ability to buy from a merchant

Final comments

I love review sites. Maybe that's why I started this one! I don't think I have made a purchase over $100 without checking out the reviews first. Reevoo seems to have a few technical glitches (who doesn't) but overall the experience is a good one and is certainly a Web2.0 environment.

As reevoo grows (and expands), I look forward to checking out the reviews of products I am looking to buy. Reevoo seems to be working with some of the top retailers in the UK which will give them a good base to work from.
