Hey Allen, sorry I didn't comment here last night - it was late and I had to catch the end of the Canucks game :)

At any rate, we are looking into a few different options for saving the sessions and giving people much better metrics than some of the other services do / will provide. We will also be providing behind the firewall support and a few other unique features.

I should also mention that we are also placing a keen focus on web application usability and therefore there will be some features that speak to application usability testers in particular that we hope will also be recognized as useful tools for web site owners at large.

Cheers,
Dave

Seems like RobotReplay is down and with it all the sites that use RobotReplay.
Guys, you should really not add any unreliable third party links to the HEAD section...

Yea Arik, I believe they were Dugg so perhaps that's why they were down. But I agree that all javascript can cause issues when a site is down. I wonder if anyone will fix that someday.

I think that is the biggest problem with all the tracking scripts. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the company / service to do this. This is something that is one of our highest priorities at the moment.

True Hiten but the browser should be smarter... maybe a "15 secs or die" type deal. These scripts are only getting more and more advanced and in addition, there are more and more we are using on our sites. So eventually this will become a major issue when sites are loading 20-40 of these scripts.

Would you use a tracking script if the operator has told you that your visitors may (from time to time) stare at a blank screen for 15 seconds? Our users wouldn’t even use the service if it would make their sites slower to load by 1 second. (and they are right, load time is correlated with drop rate)
The browser already provides all the necessary tools to reduce the impact of third party scripts. You just need to do a good design and be a little creative. A good infrastructure helps too.

Arik - I was using that 15 seconds as an example. We obviously need some timeout period - it has to be long enough to have a chance to load!

Also remember that when a service is in beta, there are kinks to be worked out. (I am not defending RR, just trying to explain outages anywhere in Betaland.)

Does anyone remember the stats system which would show your data as a "sim city" style replay? Sounds like an interesting idea, but will it be useful on a daily basis?
