Seesmic Launches Mobile Cell Phone Video – Exclusive CEO Demo

seesmicDuring my trip to the west coast, I sat down with Seesmic CEO Loic LeMeur for a demo of the new Seesmic mobile application. I was able to grab an exclusive video demo with Loic and I’ve embedded the demo below. The Seesmic mobile application allows Seesmic users to record videos, watch videos and reply to videos in the normal Seesmic message board threaded fashion utilized on the Seesmic Web site.

The service works on the Nokia N95 and other Symbian mobile devices. I asked LeMeur to compare the application to live mobile video streaming applications Kyte, Flixwagon and Qik. LeMeur explained that the Seesmic mobile application isn’t a live streaming application but rather a way to interact in the video conversation. When a video is uploaded via the mobile, users can select to have a message sent to their Twitter account information their friends of their new video upload.

If you are interested in learning more about Seesmic, check out my video interview with LeMeur from earlier this month. Here’s the video demo:

Loic LeMeur is doing some really cool stuff with both Seesmic and twhirl,
nice to see a good mobile application not built just for the iphone .

  2. Loic says:

Thank you for your compliments tonybls12!

It’s particularly clever to publish this video on viddler. Classic community takeover by Loic ;-)

My hope was to post the video on Seesmic – Seesmic does not allow wmv files. My camera spits out HUGE avi files and I tried compressing it to the size Seesmic allows but couldn’t get it to go. So that’s why it’s on Viddler.

It is cool to have an application to upload videos, but it is even better not needing an application :-)

Videoshare client already included in most Nokia Symbian handsets (N70, N73, N95, N80, N78, N96, 6120, 6210, …) is all you need to post in real time or upload a recorded video, check this out:

Real time live video from your handset (i.e. uploading the video while you are taking it) and real time live broadcasting from your handset (i.e. your buddies watching your video while you are taking it), with no application installed in your handset. That’s cool, uh?
