Senior Ruby Programmer
You:
You’re an awesome programmer & technologist. You know what ORM is, how to use it, and have strong opinions about it. You’ve made something scale. You’ve clustered something. You’ve consumed a web service. You have a favorite distro. And a favorite data structure.
You are excited about technology and love building cool stuff. You are just as happy slinging code as you would be designing database schemas, talking to clients, troubleshooting production problems, and writing job postings like this one. You’re “smart and get things done.”
Us:
We’re an exciting little startup in NYC building a kick-ass communications platform that mashes up SMS, voice, RSS, web services, and IVR in all sorts of cool new ways. We’re about a year old, angel backed, profitable, and have a high-profile client list.
We like open-source. We like agile, test driven development. We like light-weight solutions such as Google Apps and Basecamp. We also like eating hamburgers at the Shake Shack, playing Wii, and giant white boards. We work with bleeding edge technologies because we love them.
The Match:
All buzz words aside, we’re a startup, so you have to be motivated to work hard and manage yourself. If something has to get done and you don’t know how to do it, you have to go learn how. And then go do it!
The Laundry List:
Ruby, Rails, MySQL, Subversion, Ajax, XML, Asterisk, VoIP, VoiceXML, IVR
The Perks:
# Your job title can be Jedi Knight (not required)
# Working with bleeding edge technology and really cool applications
# Be an enabler: help cause-related organizations make the world a better place
# Stock options / equity stake
# You can go to work in sneakers or flip flops
# A powerstrip on top of your desk so you can plug in as much stuff as you need without crawling
# Salary, medical, dental, and all that good stuff
Apply:
Send your resume to jobs@mcommons.com. Got a blog or an embarrassingly inappropriate MySpace page? Send that too! We are currently looking for developers to work full-time and on location in NYC.
