18 hours and counting for ShoutCentral.com Auction
If you ever wanted a plug-and-play Web 2.0 social network, you have 18 hours left. The auction for ShoutCentral.com on eBay closes in under a day. Bidding has continued to move up and is currently sitting at $8,600. Check out the auction
UPDATE: 4 hours left - $9,100.
From the auction:
Now is your chance to buy a premier social network already generating buzz around the Internet. With over 1,000 users and a completely custom coded network you can become the next Tom from MySpace!! I have spent the last year building this website from the ground up using PHP and AJAX on a MySQL backend and poured my sweat and tears working many a late night to add new features. The reason I am selling the site is due to my lack of time to update and improve the site. Hopefully the right someone can acquire it and continue to make the site better and grow the community. The code can be easily modified to add whatever you choose.

If I wasnt already bootstrapping a startup, I'd buy this and convert the code into a stand alone application and sell it to users who want to create their own social network.
I hope we get an exclusive when you go live - just kidding, I don't require such things :)
But I would be happy to do a review/interview - just let me know... you certainly have helped the community here!
Not sure what the point of buying and turning it into a stand alone community to sell.
You can already buy your own social network from SNAPP, the creators of me.com for about $350 bones. Not saying you couldnt compete with them, but they have a hell of an offering.
Plus, you get so much function. I almost bought one, but decided to pursue my current start up.
There is also peopleaggregator (supposedly free) and a bunch of others. And it's also not like community building is so web 2.0. Before web 2.0 most of them were just called forums. ;-)
Absolutely. I will give you an exclusive interview and first look and maybe offer some sort of guaranteed beta tester accounts for your users.
It went for a good money. I hope they continue to improve it down the road.
