Want Someone To Manage Your Company’s Social Media? Here’s a Fee List
We all know how beneficial social media is to the bottom line of any business – heck, we hear it from the social media experts every day. But what if you aren’t interested in managing the social media tasks for your own firm but want to reap the rewards? Now you can hire a social media and search engine optimization firm to manage all of your social media needs for you. I guess it might make sense for some companies – if you outsource your customer service (email and phone) then why not also outsource the online customer interactions.
The below chart was sent to me by a social media and search engine optimization firm earlier this week. They offer a variety of package deals to not only save me money but also get me maximium results for my startup CloudContacts. Their pitch was simple, “We can help you in building brand recognition of your website so that conversion rate on your website goes way up.” They closed by noting that by using their service I would receive “intense results.”
So what do you get for your money?
- $1,000/month on Facebook = 5 managed profiles, 1 fan page, 250 discussions with other Facebook members and 50 status updates
- $900/month on Twitter = 5 managed profiles, 1 new profile creation and 2,000 tweets a month
- They can also bookmark content on the bookmarking services for $500/month

We handle social media management for a couple of our long-term clients. We’ve helped define their brand voice and have been able to keep the spirit of their brand culture flowing in social media. That being said, it is always a tough case to define how much to charge. Portions are VERY time intensive while other aspects allow us to be “helicoptering” in and observing.
I agree with Elizabeth, however, a lot needs to be defined. We had to outline serious deliverables.
I agree with RichardM on the page creation fees, but the overall fee structure does seem high. Does anyone else have any fee structures to compare it to? Anyone know if it is an hourly system or a monthly one?
I think fee structures are the greatest unknown to many trying to offer these services…
Interesting. Its funny to see how social media jobs are being monetized. I think this might take away from a company’s personalization though. How can they trust that a third party knows about their clients and business better than they do? That’s my big question
“Intense Results”? They need to rethink how they market their results. By who’s standards are they considered “intense”?
I agree with Richard on the pricing. These guys are either way over or under-priced on their services depending on what they actually are. There’s another point they could do better on. They need to be clear on what exactly their offer is.
So much we can learn from others examples! Thanks for the post.
Hmm I’d think the page creation fee for something like Twitter or Myspace would be slightly higher. I assume since its not they aren’t creating custom profiles or if they are they are fairly generic designs. If that’s the case $150 just to create the page then an additional $150/mo for having it is a bit ridiculous.
Back in the day I did Myspace page design, you had a flat design fee which was scalable depending on complexity of the design, need for custom graphics ect. Then there was a scalable fee for updates, upkeep, customer interactions ect..generally a few hundred a month. The most important aspect they leave off is friend’s requesting, which is the major aspect of sites like Myspace. You can add tons of people to get your product name out there. No point paying for some to do posting on FB and Myspace if you have no friends or followers to see them!
Now days you can outsource much of this on sites like oDesk for pennies on the dollar.
