Startup Videos Review: Chatapist
Review of Startup Videos Opportunity: Chatapist by Allen Stern.
Allen's review: Taso Du Val begins with an overview of Chatapist claiming that you can obtain information quicker using Chatapist than using Yahoo or Google. You setup a "case" and then anyone who is subscribed using basically any messaging service (i.e. icq, aim, gtalk, msn, jabber, irc and yahoo messenger). Users can then join the chat and begin discussion of the problem or need. If you are not happy with one of the responses, you can block that person. Users setup profiles with their system id's and then all of the chats are logged. The system uses a relevancy profile to know when to alert you.
If you are interested in C++, set that up and any chats or requests related to C++ will notify you immediately. I could see great benefits for a system like this. Imagine a stay-at-home parent who is an expert at cooking. He/she sets up a relevancy setting for cooking and then when someone needs help with cooking, they are alerted. Or for technical support for a product. I agree with Taso that this has the ability to be quicker to find help for your issue than using a search engine.
