Startup Videos Review: iQmer
Review of Startup Videos Opportunity: iQmer, reviewed by Steve Poland.
Steve's review: The company is essentially a Wiki of consumer knowledge on products and services -- the community rates and summarizes information. My initial questions are -- how does this differentiate from Amazon.com product reviews, or aggregator Bazaarvoice's reviews, or some sort of answers service like Yahoo Answers.
iQmer positions this as consumer reports by those who use products or services -- and thus you can get the trusted direction of your friends at anytime. They don't show the website at all and currently the website is essentially a one-pager. This sounds like Yub.com in a way, which I thought was a cool social networking concept by Buy.com where you had a profile, could friend people, people could comment on you, and you could also befriend rants/raves, which can be products ( i.e. Coca-Cola) or could be characters (i.e. Homer Simpson).
These rants/raves could be your "friend" and then you could comment on them -- thus, you could add a Nikon digital camera essentially and comment on it. If iQmer can allow me to quickly type in 'digital camera' and tell me what ones my close network of friends suggest I buy, that'd be a great service. Overall, iQmer has a huge hill to climb to get consumer adoption of this service -- and lots of competition (eBay's Epinions, Amazon.com, etc) with vast collections of product/service reviews already.
Below is the submitted video pitch:

We appreciate the review and the opportunity to provide additional information about the exciting release of iQmer.com later this month. Steve Poland (reviewed iQmer) mentioned the value of being able to search for and read product and service reviews posted by friends or family. That is exactly what iQmer is built around. The first phase of our launch is focused on building useful content. Profiles are already available. Create your own profile find in our unpublised beta version at http://demo2.lesseverything.com then invite your friends and family to JOiN iN with you.
