Hey Allen

I think you missed the aggregator part totally. Simplyhired is never the biggest aggregator. Indeed.com is the biggest now. And I don't think Jobster qualifies as one of the "larger players".

http://www.hitwise.com/press-center/hitwiseHS2004/us-11012007careersites.php

Both of them were not in the hitwise's list.

Thank you for the corrections about Indeed and SimplyHired. I added them to the original post. I think Jobster qualifies because the Hitwise stats are from before the major launch of the free service. So that's why I grouped them into the larger players. We will need to watch how the free service moves ahead if they should retain that position. I guess they are not really part of the aggregator category either anymore. Thanks again!

The problem I see with the traditional job boards is they require candidates to be active seekers to engage them in the hiring process and if you ask any recruiter the gold is found in the passive candidate pool. There is a site called CareerTours www.careertours.com which uses word of mouth marketing tools to get jobs out to the passive job seekers by tapping into their social and business networks. (full disclosure- I am part of the company). As a former recruiter I believe this is the future of recruiting and the evolution of the referral model.
