StumbleUpon launches Stumble Video – Personalized Video Discovery Service

StumbleUpon, a company we interviewed yesterday, has launched today Stumble Video. They describe the service as, the first and only way to discover and watch videos that automatically match individual interests and preferences. Each video available on Stumble Video has been selected from throughout the Internet by the fast growing StumbleUpon community of 1.6 million.

The initial set of videos is coming from YouTube, Google Video and MySpace.

David Feller, Vice President, Marketing at StumbleUpon stated in the release, “People demand instant access to online video content that’s personally gratifying, and they don’t want to spend all day looking for it. That’s where StumbleUpon fits in. Stumble Video allows people to discover great videos they would likely never find using traditional keyword searches. The experience is like channel surfing through video content that is laser-targeted to your tastes.”

The release highlights StumbleVideo’s features:
StumbleUpon’s video discovery capability follows its innovative Website discovery tool, a download that easily integrates into Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. StumbleUpon makes it possible to:

• Stumble the Internet for great Web sites, videos, pictures, games and more
• Rate and review websites
• Rate and review online videos
• Keep an online history of discovered sites and content
• Easily share the recommended sites with friends and other Stumblers

From what I have seen so far, and from the screenshots below, Stumble Video might become more popular than StumbleUpon’s core service. I wonder what the average user session time will be with this new product. I can only guess, a long time.
