SXSW Day 2 Recap -- the average, the great and THOSE BIRDS w/video!
Written by Allen Stern - March 10, 2007
Welp Day 2 (full day 1) of SXSW Interactive 2007 is over. I attended 3 sessions and hung out in the nice press lounge. I am really enjoying Austin and my general Austin comments will be coming on Sunday/Monday.
- The Decade of Style panel was boring and seemed like self-promotion. That panel had TONS of promise.
- The How to Bluff Web 2.0 panel was great. Really enjoyed it.
- Lastly, the Unleashing CSS for IE 7 had promise as well. So many stupid PPT effects and more "charting the browser wars" caused me to deduct style points. But there were some useful pieces about new properties you can use. CSS is really quite powerful.
- Press lounge was pretty dope (pics here) - nice high-speed connections, lots of power, couches, etc. Met the Viddler guys there, Colin and Rob. Their app rocks. Think I saw Jeremiah but he was with some (older) women so I didn't want to disrupt his game.
Alrighty then... so when I got to my hotel, I went for a walk - this was Thursday nite. All I heard was birds - LOUD birds - what sounded like hundreds of them. No, they didn't sound like the bats. So tonight I took my cam out and filmed a bit over a mnute of the birds - I can only imagine the poop on these building's roofs and cars below.

it's like a hitchcock movie. how did you not get shit on?
yea, i was standing under the hotel awning here - but yea, it's mad - the noise they make is amazing and then they go
i will try to get more before i go...
