SXSW Links ‘Round The Web
by Allen Stern on March 11th, 2009
The big SXSW interactive festival starts on Friday and this will be my third year in attendance. I look forward to meeting as many CN readers as I can and I have fresh CN stickers for all. I will post the location of where I am so you can pick up the stickers on the left side of the CN site throughout the day. I will have my video camera and tripod so get ready for some interviews and product demos.
Here are a few things to remember if this is your first time to Austin:
- you won’t be able to do everything you think you will – it’s ok, just enjoy what you actually do
- it’s not "southby" – do not call it this, thank you
- bring good walking shoes – for some reason the event is split up in what seems like walking a mile in each direction back and forth all day
- don’t look down all day typing some tweet – look ahead and all around and find people to talk to – at least 75% of the power of SXSW is actually meeting people and talking, not wasting your time on twitter
Other resources to check out before arriving:
- b5media CEO Jeremy Wright has put together a number of guides for the first-timer.
- Friendfeed has setup a room which aggregates most of the official and unofficial sxsw feeds and aggregators including twitter search – frankly if you are a Friendfeed user, this is the only thing you need.
If you have other suggested resources, please leave them in the comments and I will add them to the post. See ya’all on Friday!

I liked your coverage last year including your post regarding “the interview”. I won’t attend but will monitor your site and the friendfeed link you listed.
Really wish I could go. I’ll follow blogs and the Tweets for my fix! Maybe one year I’ll get there.
Have fun!!
