The matches for BloggerMania I are now complete. The winner and NEW BloggerMania Champion is…. ROBERT SCOBLE. Scoble and Tara went neck and neck but one video about the birthday of Scoble this week pushed him over the top. The video is below for you to witness. No matter what I could do, I couldn't find anything from HPC to help Tara mount a Rocky-style comeback.
Thanks to everyone for going along with my silly fun. I hope next time it will be even more exciting. Let me know if you have comments or ideas for BloggerMania II.
I have now picked the final two for BloggerMania I. They are… Robert Scoble and Tara Hunt. That’s right, these two will duke it out for the BloggerMania I crown on Thursday. You best be here because well, to be the man (or woman) you gotta beat the man (or woman). 32 top notch bloggers began and we are now down to two. Who will win? Place your guesses by replying to this thread!
Moving on to Final Round are: Robert Scoble and Tara Hunt
Select highlights from the matches: Tara beat Jeremiah when Tara’s moving crew came back to take out Jeremiah. However Jeremiah was so tired from CES, that he just gave up. Robert printed out each of his 626 emails from his time at CES and papered Ryan. Ryan attempted to vacuum the papers with his new Dyson vacuum, but even that got jammed up!
This is the most exciting result show yet! The elite 4 have been named and the final matches are next week. Vegasbloggerodds.nl shows the following odds for the ultimate winner: Tara 40:1, Ryan 23:5.1, Markus 100:1, Robert 10:4. You better be here next Tuesday to find out who the final two competitors are. If not, you will be lame and be forced to read offline papers for a month! Congrats to all the Round 3 winners.
Moving on to Round 3 are: Ryan
Select highlights from the matches: Ryan wins over Niall when Ryan uses a Dyson vacuum to suck the damn life right out of Niall. I guess they really don’t lose suction!
Moving on to Round 2 are: Robert
Select highlights from the matches: Robert moves on when he goes off on Loren for his post about “Scobie is wrong about the iPhone.”
Moving on to Round 2 are: Markus
Select highlights from the matches: Cameron made a very strong showing here but a run-in by a very upset Rex for losing last week put Markus on the winning side, technically speaking that is.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Tara
Select highlights from the matches: Tara decides to take a Wikipedia server and let’s just say that Jeremiah will never wonder what the heck a Tyrannosaurus Rex is again.
Below are the results of Round 2 of BloggerMania I. Not many surprises except 2 #1 seeds are gone and two CEOs make appearances to help their lunch mates. Oh yea and a rabbit helps one contender hop out a win. Congrats to all the Round 2 winners.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Niall and Ryan
Select highlights from the matches: Ryan wins over Amber by using a 100 foot balance sheet. Niall wins with a perfect blog entry.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Robert and Loren
Select highlights from the matches: Robert beat Mike when Bill Gates made an unexpected run-in with the Windows Home Server. Mike was blinded by the green glow and Robert was able to get the win. Loren beat Amanda when Joanne came back and used the force of London and the RocketBoom map to brilliantly win.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Cameron and Markus
Select highlights from the matches: Cameron wins over Rex by Digg default. Markus wins with an excellent post about flying as well as Liz loses points as GigaOM does not return emails.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Tara and Jeremiah
Select highlights from the matches: Tara wins when the Citizen Nabaztag does the Banana dance all over Steve’s mug. Jeremiah wins when Michael Dell makes an unexpected appearance and takes out Jason.
The results are listed below for Round 1 of BloggerMania I. There appeared to be some confusion about how the matches will go. My thought would be to use some proprietary scientific methods to pick the winners. Frankly, I would rather do it by voting, my concern is whether I can get enough people voting to make it worthy. If you have other ideas, please certainly let me know! I want this to be as much fun as possible for everyone. Congrats to all the Round 1 winners.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Niall, Stowe, Ryan and Amber
Select highlights from the matches: Amber wins by using the Canada argument. Ryan organized the plan and by using his precisely folded printed paper daily planning method was able to overcome Merlin. Stowe beat Om by using Om’s cigar.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Mike, Robert, Amanda and Loren
Select highlights from the matches: Joanne was about to win against Amanda (and I was praying for that!) but Amanda came back by boring Joanne into submission by doing that AmandaAcrossAmerica dance. Robert won by using Edwards as a democratic partner explaining to Matt why it would be best for the country if he lost.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Rex, Cameron, Liz and Markus
Select highlights from the matches: Cameron and Neil went to a tiebreaker round of finger wrestling whereby Cameron won with a sneak attack. Liz wins when Om comes back after his loss and hands her an ergonomic web worker daily approved chair. Markus beats Joel by using a better design. Rex, acting like Rocky in Rocky 4 against Ivan Drago (Pete) takes out the number one seed by using a MySQL reverse attack.
Moving on to Round 2 are: Steve, Tara, Jason and Jeremiah
Select highlights from the matches: Steve used an Edelman laptop to beat out Richard. Tara used the “community” to beat Matthew. Jason beat nick by using the Knicks as a defense… the 1993 Knicks that is. Jeremiah and Seth went the distance, Jeremiah won by two points: better vocabulary usage and comments “on”.

To ring in the new year, I thought it would be a bit of fun to create BloggerMania I. The idea is to bring together 32 bloggers who work mostly in the Web 2.0 or new technology space and have them duke it out for the top position, The Champ of BloggerMania. I selected the challengers based on several characteristics.
Here is how it will work. On January 1, 2007, I will announce the full seedings and first round matchup results. From there, matches will take place on Monday and Thursday each week until we crown a winner in the main event. So far I have determined the number 1 seeds for each grouping. If you are one of the challengers, you should do everything you can to get your community behind you! Remember, your community’s support may help you win! I hope this is a lot of fun for everyone.
I have received a few questions about what the bloggers below need to do to win. The answer is nothing. I will create the results based on studying each blogger’s style, posts, etc. If you would like to link to BloggerMania I, that would be greatly appreciated.
