BuzznetHow off their acquisition of Stereogum and their rumored acquisition of Qloud, Buzznet has announced the acquisition of Alternative Music Community Absolute Punk today. Founded in 2000, Absolute Punk offers industry news, reviews, interviews and has a very passionate community. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Absolute Punk self reports 500,000 users per month and the Buzznet empire now reports over 10 million unique users per month. Compete shows lower traffic but remember that Compete is always off (usually lower) by some percentage and they only track U.S. traffic.

I believe we will see more of these blog rollups this year but with the sites still operating in a semi-independent state. This deal today allows Absolute Punk to get better quality ad deals and increases their exposure and distribution. And folks, blog distribution is key.

BuzznetBuzznet is reporting that they have acquired music blog Stereogum for an undisclosed sum. Stereogum focuses on pop-punk and alternative rock fans and artists in a blog format. Buzznet raised $25 million in funding in March. Scott Lapatine founded Stereogum in 2003 and will continue to oversee the blog going forward.

Lapatine noted that the blog will remain independent but with the resources of Buzznet for development and expansion. The first co-project will be Videogum launching next week which will contain content about pop culture programming, including television, movies, web shorts and video games.

Last week there were rumors that Buzznet acquired Qloud but I haven’t heard any confirmation as of yet.

QloudMashable is reporting that Buzznet has acquired Qloud for a "little over their last round valuation." Qloud launched in November 2007 and is backed by AOL Founder Steve Case. PaidContent reported that Buzznet picked up $25 million in VC funding last week and was looking at potential acquisitions. Could Qloud be the first one?

Qloud provides a music directory and listening application for Facebook, Friendster, Bebo and hi5.
