Several friends and colleagues have noticed the HelloBar on CN noting that I am looking to sell the site and they have asked me why. It’s simple…I am focused on my startup now and just don’t have the time to put a real effort into CN anymore. I’d like to sell the site either as a domain name sale or the full site including all of the content.

Here’s part of what is included in the sale:
– centernetworks.com domain (domain age 1999)
– over 5,600 posts (CN uses WordPress as the blogging platform)
– other domains not being used today: centernetworks.net, centernetworks.org, centrenetworks.co.uk, centernetworks.co.uk
– the new owner would take over the CN Twitter account (nearly 10,000 earned followers)
– the new owner would take over the CN Facebook page

If interested or if you would like more details, please contact me at general@centernetworks.com.

Below is a list of the domain names for sale – send an email to (general@centernetworks.com) if interested – all inquiries and offers will be held in strict confidentiality.

Also, the centernetworks.com domain and website (this site!) is available for premium purchase. The sale would include a variety of associated domains – including domains from the UK. I am very interested in a detailed discussion with any interested parties about a purchase of CenterNetworks.

I can’t seem to figure out why I think this sign is awesome, but just like the original poster on Subchat, it is. Maybe it has something to do with pivoting or just the ability to get some advance notice when we are about to do something incorrect. Naturally if you run a company, you know that you don’t always get to hit this sign before you hit the bridge. Maybe the key is to growing your startup is to figure out how to setup signs all along the road so you never get too close to the bridge.

Or maybe it has nothing to do with any of that and the town is pissed that trucks keep hitting the bridge.

Tomorrow is Father’s Day in the U.S. and about 30 other countries. I’d give just about anything to have a father. The only thing I remember tech-wise about my father was him buying me an Atari 400 when me and my sister visited him in Florida. We dragged the 400 back to NYC and my mother said it was a piece of crap and that next week it was sent back to Florida.

So here is my request – it’s a simple one. If you are a dad, go offline tomorrow. Take your kids out for a walk, to the diner, to a museum, bowling, whatever. Tell your kids stories about how you used to play video games in these things called arcades, how you were lucky to have a 10″ screen on the tv in your bedroom growing up, and the first time you saw Cindy Crawford in a bikini using Mosaic. In all seriousness, tell your kids the important stories that they need to hear and see. Teach your son how to shave correctly, teach your daughter where to kick if a guy mistreats her. Show your kids where you met their mother/partner. Teach them some lessons about life. You never know how your kids might just open up to you and seek your wisdom and advice.

We all spend nearly every minute online – tomorrow is a perfect day to go offline and enjoy the time away.

Playing Xbox, Kinect, Angry Birds, Wii or Farmville with your kids doesn’t count. Posting updates on Twitter and Facebook doesn’t count. Trust me, in 5 years your kids won’t remember that you beat level 27 mob boss in GTA but they will remember all of your wacky stories.

And if you are worried about being offline, don’t be. You won’t miss anything and you can double up on useless Twitter updates on Monday.

If you can’t do this for yourself and your family, do it for me. CN has been around 4+ years now and I assume you’ve read at least one post that taught you something or made you think. Let’s consider you going offline as my pay.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and granddads out there.

(I turned off comments on this post because frankly I’d rather you spend every minute with your kids and family)

As many of you know, I’ve been spending nearly all of my time on CloudContacts and will continue to do so going forward. I have been slowly attempting to sell CN but frankly am not really sure what is the best way to make that happen. So after spending several days in the local library doing research on pivoting (did you know the Dewey decimal system has a whole section for pivots? 632.B), I’ve decided the time has come to pivot CenterNetworks. And let me just say that what we will be doing is downright revolutionary and brilliant!

It’s not that I don’t love startups and all of you – I still do. I will still do everything I can to provide feedback and advice as I always have. Since I am now a “pivot expert” – your startup can hire me for PTM — that’s Pivot Transition Management for you pivoting newbies.

So I started to think about what kind of pivot makes the most sense for CenterNetworks. Here’s the list I came up with:

a business and tech scraper – oops, Henry Blodget got that one covered

a porn site (bet you didn’t know this but I turned down an opportunity to be the first Penthouse webmaster) – oops, Tumblr has that covered

a how-to video site where I could make videos like “how to open a Heinz ketchup packet” or “how to dial 911 on your phone” – oops, the four-time, four-time, four-time, four-time pivoting Mahalo got that one covered

I decided the best way to explain how CN is pivoting was to do it on video. So check out the video below and learn more about how CN will change – the layout change will take place on April 2, 2011. Thanks to everyone who supported CN for the last four years and to all of those who will continue supporting CN going forward.

Don’t forget to subscribe to the CN YouTube channel so you instantly know when we post new videos.

Earlier today CloudContacts launched our integration with Salesforce just in time for the conference (thanks to NextWeb for writing about the launch!).

I will be in town all week and am looking to meet with startups in the contact management, social media and CRM space. I will be at the Dreamforce conference during the week as well — a perfect place to meet and chat. If you are interested in meeting, send me an email with the best days/times for you next week.

I am also looking for good recommendations on the best burger in San Francisco – leave your picks in the comments.

And don’t worry Twitter…I won’t be delivering any cupcakes to your office this trip.

Many of you know that last month I packed myself and my startup up and moved half-way across the country. I didn’t realize that, using technology, I could basically live as if I was still in NYC.

Naturally I wanted to be able to watch the Yankees no matter where I moved. Because the apartment I selected faces the wrong direction, a satellite dish was out as an option. The MLB packages with Time Warner are quite expensive. Using a daily deal I found on Groupon, I was able to grab 30 days of MLB.tv premium for $5. I am now hooked on this service as it allows me to watch the Yankees games live on my first-ever LCD tv. I can watch the audio and video from Yes Network (the NYC local channel for Yankees games) or I can watch the audio and video from the away team. I can also watch almost all of the other games that are underway around the country. My 30 days are almost up and I am pretty sure I will renew for the balance of the season.

Next up for my period of transition is music – there are several radio stations in NYC I enjoy listening to. The morning shows, the club music, etc. All of the radio stations I like from NYC are available to listen to either via their websites or on iTunes. Listening to these radio stations is as close to being in NYC as is possible. There’s just one issue – whenever the DJ announces the time or weather, I get all messed up since there is a time change (I’ve already contacted the governor to see what we can do about moving the state to Eastern Time). It’s pretty amazing to think that we can listen to radio stations from anywhere and at any time – from down the street to across the country to around the world. Here’s hoping one day we can do the same for television channels.

I haven’t been able to find good NYC pizza here yet although there are many pizzerias that will ship a pie overnight. One local delicatessen offers H&H bagels fresh from NYC – they are flown in every morning.

There is one awesome technology benefit to the move and that’s…living in a city with a Fry’s. If you have never been to Fry’s, you need to take a trip (I don’t care how far you have to drive) as it’s the best store for technology geeks ever. They even have a food court just so you never have to leave!

I am sure over time my need for a connection to NYC may slow down (never for the Yankees or Giants) but it’s great to know that when I need a fix, it’s only a mouse-click away.

If you are a regular CN reader, you’ve seen a decline in the number of stories that are posted daily. As I shift my time into a variety of programs, it’s made it harder to post the large number of stories that I did in 2008/early 2009. At the same time, I am receiving more requests to guest post on CenterNetworks from a wide variety of people from journalists, entrepreneurs, etc.

I’d like to share details of the new Guest Post program on CenterNetworks that is launching today. The concept works basically just like all other guest post programs on other blogs with one twist. You can own the ad space on the stories you provide. Take a look at the image below of a standard CN story page. The areas in red are the advertising areas that you can provide ad code for. The ads can be for your startup, or any ad network. The ads you provide will live with the story even after it leaves the front page.

I see this program as a great way for you to get visibility for your stories and startup (if you have one) along with revenue from the ads you own.

The ad sizes are:

728×90 – Leaderboard

300×250 – Box

250×250 – Right side Box

You can participate anytime you would like. You can send topic ideas to the email address listed below and I will provide some guidance or you can send full posts for review. You can also submit stories from your own blog. I would just ask that the submitted stories are not sales pitches for your startup. Stories can be submitted from anywhere in the world but must be in English. Each post will be reviewed and I can’t guarantee that all submissions will be accepted.

The goal would be to post 1-3 good quality stories each day from a variety of diverse perspectives.

To participate, send your stories (or a link to the story) to news-at-centernetworks-dot-com. I also welcome any additional ideas about the program – send those to the same email address. I look forward to the submissions and the feedback on the new guest post program.

Late last month I posted that I am considering leaving NYC and might move to one of a bunch of different cities. Within minutes of the post going live, I had a number of comments, phone calls and emails — all with suggestions on places to move to.

Each person I spoke with was totally passionate about their city. Even Jason Calacanis got in on the action – offering me full use of his Tesla for one week if I move the mothership to LA.

It got me thinking – so often we hear about how the only place to create or grow a startup is in a few ZIP codes in California. But we all know that there’s great technology and impressive startups launching from nearly all points around the world.

Here’s my thought – let’s all show off what makes our cities great (SF/SV included). From the startup culture to the social scene to the costs and show off some of the great startups along with those that are on their way to the top. I’d also like to see a look into general life in each city.

So far we’ve got several top entrepreneurs and bloggers on board representing Philadelphia, LA, New Zealand, Seattle, Portland, Boulder and more. I’d love to get as many cities represented as possible and that’s where you come in. If you would like to show off your city (anywhere in the world, big or small), drop me a line and let’s get your city listed! The posts will begin early next week.

This weekend I will be in Austin and am interested in meeting with any local startups.

As many of you know, I currently live in NYC. My apartment lease is coming to an end this September and I am considering moving to another city in the U.S. Here are my requirements:

Must be less expensive than NYC

Must have a tech scene

Must have a good airport – meaning multiple carrier choices

I have considered moving back to Atlanta where I lived for nearly a decade. Atlanta meets my requirements for 1 and 2 but not 3 as the only airline choice is basically Delta.

I am currently considering the following cities:

Austin, Texas

Portland, Oregon

Seattle, Washington

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Boulder, Colorado

I would absolutely love some input on the cities I’ve listed above and/or other suggestions for places to move to.

It’s important that I move to a city where I can get the word out about my startup along with the ability to fly whenever needed to conferences and events.

Interestingly this afternoon I had a discussion with Mashable writer Josh Catone about my potential move. Josh is also considering moving later this year and has a very similar post looking for advice.

At this point I am planning to visit Austin from August 7-12th and would like to meet some local startups and entrepreneurs. Drop me a line if are interested in meeting.

This week in NYC is the 140conf – it’s a conference about Twitter (no, no seriously there really is a conference dedicated to twitter that costs $1,000 a ticket!). I know many of you are visiting NYC from other locations and I thought it might be a great time for a CN NYC breakfast meetup!

I will be at the Cosi tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7:30-8:30am. Feel free to stop by for some breakfast anytime during the hour to talk about your startup, CNN’s coverage of Iran, why fake blogger fights equal pageviews, we can debate the Twitter suggested user list and/or any other topics you’d like to discuss. I will have my video camera - we can shoot a video about your startup as well.

I will also have CN stickers and discount codes for my startup.

Cosi is on the corner of 51st and Broadway and is one block away from the conference center (3 minutes walk). Take the #1 train to 50th, the N/R/W to 49th or the C/E to 50th. Cosi has free wi-fi.

I am working on getting valley superstar startup blogger Louis Gray to attend in his new sweet ride (1 mile rides will be available for $20).

I am staying in downtown San Francisco but am willing to travel for best results. So if you are interested in meeting, shooting some startup videos and rapping about other tech blogs, leave your thoughts on local and preferred time in the comments.

Also – should you decide to place an order with my startup, bring your business cards with you to the CNup and grab a cool bonus 20% extra cards for your order.
