Mobile Video Updates: Clippz and FixMyMovie
I’ve got two video updates out of the video conference in NYC the past two days from Clippz and FixMyMovie. Looks like both updates are similar — FixMyMovie optimizes what comes in and Clippz optimizes what goes out. Maybe a marriage in their future?
FixMyMovie
FixMyMovie helps you optimize the videos you capture using low-resolution devicess. FixMyMovie analyzes the clip, frame by frame, comparing data from the foreground with the background to determine if the quality of the video should be changed for the better.
Tonight they are announcing their support for H.264 Technology Through Adobe Flash 9 which will further the ability for the service to help you optimize the videos you upload visually.
In addition to H.264 Flash, enhanced video clips are available for download as a WMV file, high-res H.264 QuickTime, as well as AdobeĀ® Flash for online services including YouTube.
Clippz
Clippz lets you "wash" videos so you can put them into other formats. The new "wash your own" service complements the existing 1,200+ videos pre-encoded on the Clippz.com site – all available for free, off-carrier delivery by transferring to cell phone or media player directly from a PC or Mac, by a process commonly known as "sideloading."
Clippz.com’s new service quickly converts video clips of up to 10 minutes run time and returns the content in device-optimized file formats without requiring software installation or the intermediation of a mobile network. Virtually all video-enabled cell phones are supported, along with the iPhone, iPod, Palm Treo and Windows PDAs.
Clippz mainly focuses on mobile video and reports 500,000 unique visitors a month.
