Coordinatr Helps You Plan Spontaneous Gatherings

CoordinatrThis past week, Coordinatr launched to help you plan spontaneous gatherings. The service could be used instead of Twitter to create a more organized party or other gathering. Coordinatr isn’t as robust in its feature set as eVite is. In my testing, Coordinatr did work well for a simple gathering with simple requirements.

Coordinatr has most of the same features as the other 500 event planning tools online. The site is slick in look and in code. You can friend people and grab a feed for your events and other’s events. There is a simple messageboard for each event which allows attendees to provide feedback and a mobile option for notifications. There is a Google Maps mashup with driving directions and an export to a variety of calendar applications.

There is one feature I haven’t seen so far in other event planning tools. Coordinatr provides you with a tag (as seen below) and when your friends and attendees tag items on Flickr or YouTube they will appear on your party page. I’d like to see a larger list of tagging services but it’s a good start.

For Coordinatr to see continued growth, they must innovate in the space. The tagging feature mentioned above is a good start but it’s not enough to get a person to switch from the 500 basic event planning tools already online.

Other services in this area that we’ve covered include MyPunchbowl (our coverage) and Renkoo (our coverage).
