EnjoyMyMedia Launches Tubes Clone
EnjoyMyMedia has, today, announced the launch of their new "Personal Broadcasting System". The first thing that came to me when I reviewed the release and the application is that it looks like a clone of the Tubes application.
The application (once installed) makes it very easy for sharing digital media with your friends and family. I could see installing this on my mom’s computer rather than having her try to navigate flickr or AOL Photos. To view the channel you must either install the application to become a "receiver" or install a widget on services such as Google. Either way, it does not appear as if you can create a public Web site from the media. If this is the case, they should work on adding this function. Check out the demos of the share/netcaster and the receiver/subscriber functions.
Update from EnjoyMyMedia – clarification to the above:
You do not need to install the EnjoyMyMedia software transmitter to be a subscriber of a users channel. When you are invited to channel, you will receive an invitation e-mail directing you to tell EnjoyMyMedia where you would like to receive your media (whether it be iGoogle, My Yahoo, Facebook, etc.). Then, moving forward, media will be sent directly to your desired feed, thus eliminating email messages and visiting sites periodicly to see if new media has been uploaded (ala Flickr or YouTube).
Some of the areas that EnjoyMyMedia works for include: digital images and scanned paper photographs, short and long camcorder videos, electronic and paper documents, personal media on your computer and personally relevant media online, special and everyday occasions.
“EnjoyMyMedia is the most comprehensive system addressing why people want to share their personal media—as a way to maintain emotional connections with loved ones,” said Keith Loris, CEO and co-founder of EnjoyMyMedia.
I am not a super-fan of these downloadable apps for file sharing. I would prefer it was web-based so I can use it from anywhere at anytime with any computer.
