I’ve reviewed a good number of event management services (links below) and the currently hottest component is the ability to poll your attendees to determine the perfect event time/day.

A new NYC startup launched this week that has the most useful interface I’ve seen to-date from the event polling services. GatherGrid offers a grid system for polling your attendees. Here’s how it works: name your event, select your open days/times in the grid, email your friends or send them the direct link, the attendees select which days/times work for them and then you confirm the event.

GatherGrid can import address book information from many of the major email services and can send the attendees a calendar request once the event has been finalized. The closest competitors to GatherGrid are Doodle and Moreganize.

Now they need to add location polling too and the service would be much more rounded. The company has also dedicated to donate 10% of their earnings to charity — a charity you select when you create the event.
