StripeGenerator.com – Ajax Diagonal Stripes Background Designer
Stripe Generator is exactly what it sounds like. It's a simple tool you can use to create a stripe pattern to include as a background on your site. Just choose the color, the shading, the size of the stripes, the space between the stripes, their orientation, and then copy and paste the line of ajax code into the place you want to see your design. You can also save your old designs to use later. read more »
Fotowoosh.com – What if you could transform 2D into 3D?
Fotowoosh is an awesome tool that lets you take your 2D photos and turn them into 3D mini movies. Kontrib.com – The world according to you, and everybody else out there
If you've got something to say or you find an interesting news bit, you want to spread the word as much as possible. In addition to your own blog posts, you can post on Kontrib.com, or even just link it to your site, and people can read what you have to say translate it into Spanish, French, or Arabic, and post comments on it. (check out CN's video review) read more »
A new site, Kontrib, has launched which offers ratings "Digg-style" plus the ability to translate the summary and the full article into four languages. The languages include: English, Spanish, French and Arabic.
Rex from VentureBeat has a solid review of the site. He begins with, "Traffic on the site is light, because it is still early days, but worth a mention because it flies in the face of the blatant disregard most mainstream sites have for foreign markets. Indeed, investors and others often even shy away from companies if they have too much exposure abroad, in part because of their inability to draw advertising revenue,"
Here is my concern. If you are going to enter a market that is already pretty top-heavy, you better bring your A game. I like the idea of translations and I think it is something not done enough overall, but the interface is lacking. While I can't say I love Digg or Netscape for their usability and design, they are several notches above Kontrib. My recommendation for Kontrib is to really beef up the user experience to awesome, then they might be on to something. Also, the translations are not featured enough. First load of the page, I don't get that the translations are offered.
