In Swahili, “omeka” means to display or lay out goods; to speak out; to spread out; to unpack. Now apply those terms to a concrete website. Omeka allows cultural institutions and private users to publish exhibitions and collections online. Learnitlists – Learn a Language While Surfing
Learnitlists applies what advertisers call branding exposure to the learning of a foreign language. Each day you are given a list of 10 words from a list of the 1000 most common English words and you can select to have the translation of these words flash one-by-one in the language of your choice. The learnit widget will make these ten words appear in a different order each time and you can flip from English to the language you are learning. read more »
RoomApes – Report All Bad Roommates
Having a roommate can be tops, you may get along like two peas in a pod; but then again, it may be hellish. The perfect roommate can become your worst nightmare. In order to avoid this, Roomapes has put together a public resource to promote better matches. The site works via profiles. Users fill out personal information about themselves—gender, height, location, and living preferences/attributes such as hygiene, responsibility, respect, sanity, and trustworthiness ranked on a 1-10 scale. read more »
escaloop – A Lifestream Badge for Your Site
Escaloop allows you to put up to 20 RSS feeds from the web applications that you use most directly onto your own blog or web page. Many of the most popular applications like del.icio.us, Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Google, Tumblr,Twitter, Last.fm Livejournal, Magnolia and others are recognized by escaloop and their icon is automatically displayed when you add them to your list.
