By teaming up with movie houses including Paramount Pictures, Gorilla Spot is able to provide users with premium content on an intuitive user-friendly editing platform.

They are currently angel funding but are looking at a Series A round. Some notes about Gorilla Spot:

An online video editing application bringing premium entertainment content to the hands of creative users

Generates revenue with a CPA model for every video created and a CPM model for every video consumed

Recently did a campaign for Paramount Pictures and the movie Sweeney Todd

Allen's note - this seems pretty similar to Kaltura, another NY-based company.

In addition, it holds online 'events' for people with common interests to come together. They are looking to raise a funding round this spring and are targeting a userbase of 60,000 unique users per month. It's worth a watch just to see how Courtney really goes into him about business plan, and competitors.

We've covered AdaptiveBlue several times over the past year.

They have continued to make their products (BlueOrganizer and SmartLinks) easier to understand for the common person (aka me) and Karen noted that they are looking to enter the social space this year so I expect to see the terminology continue to shift. While some geeks might care about "semantic web", most Internet users just want something that helps them without big words.

Karen also noted that they are seeking a series B round of funding and are currently in discussions with investors. Lastly, she noted that AdaptiveBlue is considering adding advertisements to their panels which would be highly contextual.
