SodaHead Review… no it’s not a cola social network
Online polling seems to be pretty popular with the Web 2.0 and social networking crowd. Another new player in this crowded market has launched (non-beta) called SodaHead. I thought the same thing you are. Why would you call a social rating and commenting site SodaHead. The answer comes from their tagline, "What's Bubbling in your head?"
Let's look at a current poll related to the VT Massacre. The page offers the ability to read the case for the poll (I like this!), vote, comment, rate a comment, embed option and threaded comments. Users can create profiles with icons for themselves. There is a blog option but I can't seem to make out what this is… looks like a list of all polls?
I asked for an overview from SodaHead and Jennifre Stephenson, Marketing Manager sent over the following overview:
SodaHead allows you to make polls, vote, add comments and post polls on any site. We also have a rating system that allows the best content and users to rise to the top. If you ever wonder what your friends or family feel about a certain subject or how you would vote on certain issues or what the rest of the world thinks on a current event, at SodaHead, now you can see people’s views as they express themselves on issues relevant to you. We make polling social and interactive.
Overall I think the site works well and they seem to have a pretty active community which is absolutely critical for a site like SodaHead. I would probably increase the level of design a couple notches as there are a lot of cute aspects to the site but some of the other layout elements could use some additional styling. With all of that said, I will give it a try for the next poll on CN.
