<a href="http://rudder.com"><img border="0" align="left" width="200" src="http://www.centernetworks.com/images/2/rudderleft.png" alt="rudder" height="70" />Rudder</a> might be the most interesting startup presenting this year at DEMO. Last year they were one of the demopit companies at Techcrunch40 as SpendView. Earlier this year they made some major changes to their application and have rebranded to Rudder. Rudder is based around the concept of &#34;thinking forward&#34; which means that the application keeps you informed of how much money you have left to spend. Rather than a budget based on categories, the Rudder system works on the concept of telling you how much you can spend based on your bills and other expenses.

<p>
It's a pretty interesting concept and one I haven't seen before - either online or offline. I went through a demo of the mobile app and it is slick and functional. Rudder taps into your financial accounts and prepares a summary email daily. If you read CN regularly, you know my thoughts on giving a startup your personal information. Rudder (and another financial startup Geezeo) use CashEdge which is the service that many banks use.
