Switching carriers to get an iPhone? You need SignalMap.com (video review)

SignalMapAre you considering switching cell phone providers so you can pick up a geek-ified iPhone? Are you standing outside at an Apple store tonight just waiting to get your hands on the supposed product of the year? If you are, you need to check out SignalMap.com.

It's a basic application. You can find cell phone signals in your area for any provider. The app launched today so there aren't many signals in the system yet (get in there and add some!). It's a Google Maps mashup and is pretty slick.

To add a signal, enter your Zip code, move the pointer to your location and enter the bars and phone type. That's it.

To find a signal, enter your Zip code and provider and you will see a map with all signals listed. I noticed an issue with the listed zip code being different than what I entered but it is a beta.
