TweetStats Archive

Last week I wrote about the need for Twitter analytics. This morning I found TweetStats which addresses some of the items I’d like to see. In fact, this might be one of the most fascinating tools I’ve come across in a while. TweetStats displays: total tweets by month, tweets by day, tweets by hour, replies "@", and the interface used to create the tweet.

Check out my charts which show that I sleep from 1am-6am eastern. January was my highest tweetie month so far with 1,093 tweets for an average of 36 per day! I only use the Web client and @industrygirl and @jowyang were my highest direct message counts. I noticed now that Jeremiah linked to TweetStats yesterday on Twitter.

TweetStats can also be a great research and spy tool. For example, check out the stats for Jason Calacanis, SEO and Robert Scoble, videoblogger. For Jason, I show up as the most replied to person (wow). Jason’s twitter volume has also dropped by about 10% each month since January and he uses mostly the Web client. Robert had over 1,500 tweets in March for a shockingly high 50 TPD (tweets per day) and he likes @spin and @loiclemeur.

Here are some other bits:

Forrester analyst Jeremiah Owyang is pretty consistent in his TPD count and uses mostly the Web client while @ messaging @shelisrael, @jspepper and @scobleizer.

BricaBox CEO Nate Westhimer sleeps from about 1am-7am, and seems to @ message mostly NYC residents.

Wine man Gary Vaynerchuk has a lower tweet count than I expected.

Videoblogger Justine has the most even daily chart I’ve seen so far.

CNET’s Caroline McCarthy has a lower total tweet count than I expected. She also @ messages Pete Cashmore more than her CNET boss Rafe Needleman.

Hand model Pete Cashmore has a very high tweet count and I am his most popular @ messager. I can tell you this was mostly his apologies for smashing that bottle on my head at his MashMeet last month.

It’s clear that Seesmic founder Loic LeMeur does not sleep.

Techcrunch editor Michael Arrington also doesn’t sleep (except maybe from 7-8am) and has a low overall @ message count – with Scoble the highest.

NY VC Fred Wilson gets a good bit of sleep and uses the Web and the text client evenly. Like Justine, he has a completely even daily graph.

Lastly, NY blogger Julia Allison appears to be new to Twitter with only March/April data. It looks like she twitters mostly during times she might be out at events. And so far she’s all about Vaynerchuk in the @ messages.
