Usuggest launches – Isuggest site first before press release
ReceivedĀ a release over the wire this morning about a new site, Usuggest. Wanted to do a review. Site is not live. So rule #1 we learn today… don't issue a release unless the site works.
Anyway, here are some details about the site – and I will do a review once it's live.
The company empowers bloggers with the ability to tag and recommend products directly from their blogs, directing their audience to online retailers like Amazon.com, WalMart.com, and Target.com. The bloggers would then receive a commission from any sales generated through referrals. Unlike affiliate marketing which is retail portal specific, USuggest's "Suggesters" direct consumers to the site with the best price across their 500+ site vendor network.
In its beta phase, USuggest.com will be working with leading bloggers to install the platform on their sites and reap the rewards of monetizing their opinions. Currently, millions of bloggers are utilizing their sites as a platform from which to discuss products and relevant experiences with them. USuggest.com not only enables bloggers an opportunity to turn their opinions into cash, but also a relevant context from which to discuss products which will be extremely beneficial to consumers looking to find as much information as possible before making their online purchase.
"We are moving from an information age to a recommendation one, and we feel that our company is harnessing the power of digital word of mouth in a way that is beneficial to both bloggers, consumers and the e-tailers themselves," said Hasan Davulcu, CEO of USuggest.com. "Through combining the existing context that the individual bloggers have on their sites with some of the web's largest vendors we are proving consumers with the ultimate comparison shopping tool."
From what I can tell from the full release, Usuggest appears to be a way to monetize your blog through using a "smart" affiliate network.
