Elisa.fluendo.com – Open Source Media Center for Linux

Media platform Elisa demonstrates that GNU and open source are eminently cool and cutely named. While you’ve got a host of full blown media centers for your Macs and Windows, Linux hasn’t got quite the breadth and reach. Elisa is universal—she’s non partial to platforms, and was built to be easy. She can run on desktops, game consoles and PDA’s. She’s compatible with iTunes, Zune, Windows Media Player, X-box and more. Basically, she’ll play all your media—DVDs, videos, music, Youtube, Flickr, radio– without any fuss. read more »

Platial – The People’s Atlas

In its most basic function, Platial maps things- but the website is so much more than that. It is a diary, a food guide, a travel log; Platial allows users to assign tags to different locations throughout the world. Iconspedia – Directory of Icons

Icons are the icing on your cake. They make your site aesthetically more interesting and these days they’re rather easy to come by especially given the collaborative and communal nature of the web. Iconspedia, in the spirit of 2.0 and sharing, is just one such service which brings together icons submitted by the community. Icons are divided by categories, among which you’ll find animals, art, computers, and cars. read more »

Vuru – Supplements Made Easy

Using Vuru.com, customers can build a custom vitamin pack from any combination of the thousands of supplements, herbs, minerals and vitamins that we carry. It’s like walking into a Whole Foods, picking out the stuff you want to take and having it packaged into daily convenient packs. Vuru replaces that weird plastic box with the M, T, W, etc. on it and saves you a ton of time. It’s like NetFlix in that Vuru sells you the same products you are already using in a way that is much more convenient. read more »

Folkd – A Digg Clone Worth Your While

Folkd is a combination of social bookmarking, Digg-like voting, notes and recommendations. It works as a browser extension which you can download through Mozilla or on site. Folkd culls tags, comments, podcasts, and other informative bits and links them to web pages and topics. Once the extension is installed a tabbed sidebar displays this related information. Users can vote up sites with the Folk it button. read more »
