Wiggio – Slick College Productivity Groups App
This afternoon I spoke with Wiggio Co-Founder and CEO Dana Lampert. Wiggio is a groups tool for college students. It’s actually a collection of web apps tied together into one overall application. The apps include: calendar, file manager, meeting manager, polls, message board and link manager. The meeting manager offers a free conference calling service as well. Lampert calls the service a "productivity suite".
They have also tied into the Zoho API which allows you to edit documents uploaded to the file manager tool. In my testing this was pretty slick. Users can have multiple groups and be notified of new content via email, text, etc.
There are four people working on Wiggio over the last year with their initial launch in September 2008. They are already working with 500 colleges and Lampert says they are looking to add more colleges this year. Their initial revenue model will be ad-based but they do have other plans as well.
I like what Wiggio offers because it’s a functional set of tools that increase productivity. It easily could be offered as a white labeled version for small businesses for a fee. Since they are going after college students, my suggestion would be to add some college logos or some other art to the homepage to show students (maybe photos of students with their jerseys, etc.).
